FRANCIS
FORD COPPOLA TO SHOOT IN ALICANTE FILM STUDIO
|
|
|
|
|
Film
director Francis Ford Coppola will
shoot his new film "Tetro" in the "City
of Light" Film Studio in Alicante. Mr.
Coppola directed "The Godfather",
"Cotton Club", and "Apocalypse Now"
among other major films, and this new
work will be co-produced by Zoetrope
(Argentina), Castafiore Films, Tornasol
Films (Spain), and BIM (Italy).

LORIN
MAAZEL CONDUCTS TWO CONCERTS IN THE ARTS
PALACE
|

|
Lorin Maazel
will conduct Verdi's "Messa da Requiem" by the
Valencian Region Orchestra and Valencian
Government Choir, on the 28th and 30th March in
the Queen Sofia Arts Palace in the City of the
Arts and Science in Valencia, with soloists Rene
Pape, bass, and Micaela Carosi, soprano,
accompanied by Elena Maximota and Vittorio
Grigolo.
On the 29th
March, Lorin Maazel will also conduct a concert
with works by Gustav Mahler and Richard Strauss
in which Ofelia Sala, the Valencian soprano,
will participate. This concert will be repeated
on the 31st March in the auditorium in Castellon
to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the
Philharmonic Society of Castellon.

AWARD FOR CHOREOGRAPHER MATS

The
Choreographic Centre of Valencian Theatres will
celebrate its X anniversary with ten
choreographs in the Dansa Valencia 2008 Festival
to take place from the 25th April to the 4th May
in nine theatres in Valencia City with forty six
exhibitions.
The Festival
was presented by Rafael Miro, Valencian
government Secretary of Culture, accompanied by
Inmaculada Gil, general directress of Valencian
government theatres, by Leonardo Santos,
director of the choreographic Centre, and Asun
Noales, choreographer and directress of the
company "Another Dance" (Otra Danza), who will
premiere here work "Earth" during the
Festival.

Rafael
Blasco, Councillor of Immigration and
Citizenship, presided the constitution
of the Council of Citizens formed by 80
members from over 50 associations that
include 51 members representing
Valencian civilians, with others from
the seven universities in the Valencian
Region, and from the local and
autonomic administration.
Isaac
Sananes, chairman of the Israeli
Community in Valencia, Tomas Diande da
Costa, chairman of the Association of
Senegalese in Valencia, and Eduardo
Ortiz, Dean of the Faculty of Sociology
and of Human Resources of the Catholic
University of Valencia, among others,
expressed their satisfaction at the
birth of the new Counsel.

EASTER
SCHOOL AT THE OCEAN PARK IN
VALENCIA

The
Oceanographic Park in the City of the
Arts and Science in Valencia, has
started its first Easter School for 60
children from 6 to 12 years old that
takes place during the Easter holiday
from the 25th to the 28th
March.
As
part of the programmed activities, the
children will learn about the various
occupants of the Ocean Park, and on
Thursday night, will bed down in the
Oceans Tower to experience the
sensation of sleeping among sharks.

TO LEARN USE OF 112 EMERGENCY
SERVICE

Irene
Rodriguez, general manageress of the
Valencian Government Fire Prevention
and Extinguishing, and Emergencies
Services, has started a tours of
several schools to teach children what
to do in an emergency, and the use of
the 112 emergency service phone line
that functions 24 hours a day for 356
days every year.

FIAT
STILO ABARTH AUTOMATIC CARS - A WARNING TO
DRIVERS
We advise our
readers that a fault in the electronic system of
the gear shift of Fiat automatic drive cars,
causes sudden stoppages that can produce
whiplash to the driver. This has been the
experience of our editor while driving an
automatic Fiat Stilo Abarth. The stoppages are
also highly dangerous if they take place when
passing out another vehicle, or in heavy
traffic.
